Sudan Liveaboard

Sudan Liveaboard

Many of you may have heard the saying Eat Sleep Dive Repeat as the mantra for any scuba dive liveaboard. But what you may not be familiar with is what happens on the days when there may be one dive or none at all because of travelling to destination or waiting for long hours for customs officials. Divers use this time to sunbathe, nap or read a book or just look at the sea.

But not our fifteen energetic ATLAM members who landed on Royal evolution on February 2020 for a fortnight of diving ! They had other plans !! For the privacy of our members I ll refrain from mentioning their names but ofcourse will let you guess who is who.

We started off the Trip from Hurghada to Port Ghalib Eygpt to Sudan with a long days ahead and no diving. So on the first day of the cruise our very own energetic Fitness instructor decided to hold an impromptu Zumba/stretching session on the top deck to the alarm, surprise shock and laughter of the rest of the guests on board. The crew were perplexed and the Dive guides joined in. And of course Music was provided by one of the other members. This first activity pretty much set the tone for the rest of the journey.

The champions in general knowledge of the group spent most of the time matching flags of the word and coats of arms to countries on a phone app. Any they scored high mostly because one of our members is an avid footballs supporter and could recognize the flags from the world cup European cup and any other football match he has watched

And a private dance class for some

Some club members set up their very own whisky & gin tasting soirees with some of the finest on board tempting the palate of those who are familiar with this indulgence and others who may have been enticed in this activity and got intoxicated only by holding a glass

And for some others the water called and called until they gave in and dived into the delights of the cold jacuzzi with no bubbles water splashing around as the boat rolled over the waves

There were the activities organized by the Boat where our group climbed up so many steps to the top of the lighthouse at Sanganeb marine National park. I stayed down mixing with the locals who are on this island for a whole month. We even bought shirts from a lighthouse in the middle of nowhere

As we cruised from one dive site to the next we very lucky to be accompanied by pods of beautiful dolphins playing in the waves made by our cruiser. Of course they came for a closer look to see who was screaming ‘ Dolphins we love you’  as we feasted our eyes on them jumping out of the water. We were also lucky to have an organized trip to snorkel with the juvenile dolphins in between our dives

Movie nights selected by the boys meant that the movie was an action movie.

There were times when the photographers would group together and help each other with equipment whilst Rebreather divers would boast about their cylinders.

And most important of all some Members with a sailing/martime background made sure to check out the engine room and the bridge with our very own search & rescue lassoed the rope to tie the dinghy

oh how we enjoyed the stunning sunsets as a celebration of our dives

This is one of the most enjoyable dive holidays I have had because our members made is so special. Thank you to Nader for organizing it

Thank you to ATLAM members for all the fun moments

Where are WE going next?
